Geo F. Trumper Bay Rum
A sailors' recipe, no less. In the 1800s, they rubbed bay leaves on their skin after long voyages, then thought of steeping them in rum. Geo F. Trumper, the Mayfair barber-perfumer, built its Bay Rum on that idea.
It opens on bergamot, fresh. The heart is spicy, with bay leaf and clove, which lingers right into the base. The whole thing stays lively and crisp, with a whiff of West Indian spice.
